We thank you for choosing to visit Belize and to stay with us at the SunBreeze Hotel – a Gold Standard Certified Hotel.

We welcome you with our warm Belizean Hospitality. As we continue to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our guests and employees. During these past few months, we have prepared to meet and exceed the requirements of the standard set out by the Belize Tourism Board hotel and tour operators Tourism Gold Standard Certificate. We have carried out extensive training with our employees to enhance the cleaning and sanitation throughout the property including our partners at the Shalom Day Spa, Ambergris Divers, and Blue Water Grill Bar and Restaurant.

  • A program manager whose responsibility will ensure that collectively we adhere to the health and safety plan that was developed for the property.
  • Wellness check by taking the temperature of all employees before commencing work and guests will have their temperature taken at check-in and periodically thereafter. With temperature exceeding 37°C we will be required to report to the Ministry of Health in order that they may provide us with instructions.
  • All guests are responsible to cover their expenses for medical attention, transfer to and from the medical facility, and if quarantine is required.
  • Physical distancing 6 feet apart is being enforced for employees and guests where possible. Unless you are a family traveling together you will be excused.
  • Seating at Blue Water Grill has been modified to 50% capacity to ensure there are 6 feet between tables. Our Blue Water Grill will be open 7:30 to 10:00 am for breakfast and then reopens from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday thru Saturday. Closed Sundays. Online ordering and payment are available.
  • All public areas have procedures implemented to have high touch areas and spaces sanitized and disinfected regularly.
  • Our guest rooms have trained employees to pay attention to high touch areas and items such as TV remotes, A/C remotes, telephones, etc. Your room will have been fully cleaned, disinfected, and sanitized before your arrival. A Gold Standard Card will be hanging on your door supporting that all GSC cleaning standards are met. Guest rooms are serviced every other day. Additional towels are provided and extra linen available on request.
  • Employees have been provided with personal protective equipment such as a face mask, face shield, rubber gloves, and all other PPE’s needed to be safe and to make sure you too are safe. All guests will be required to wear a face mask while in public spaces
  • Sanitizing stations have been established in strategic areas available for all employees and guests.

We have minimized the need for physical contact at check-in such as requesting guests to pre-register by providing us the information required and by being able to make online payments at checkout.

During your Stay at SunBreeze Hotel:

  • While in-country facemasks are mandatory in all public spaces, and you are expected to practice social distancing and proper hand hygiene to protect yourself and others you come in contact with.
  • Tourists are to reserve and stay only at Gold Standard hotels. Therefore, only hotels that are Gold Standard certified are included on the Belize Travel Health App for Tourists to select. The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) will only be promoting and partnering with these properties that have implemented the recommended health and safety protocols to protect guests and have therefore attained Tourism Gold Standard Certification. 
  • The Safe Corridor for tourists has been expanded to include all Gold Standard and Certified entities including hotels, tour operators, restaurants, tourism sites, gift shops, car rentals, and taxis. Tourists can therefore move around freely but are highly encouraged to remain within the safe corridor by visiting and using only those entities that are Gold Standard Certified and the certification is displayed and clearly visible.

Hotel Safety & Security


Please ensure that your windows are locked securely when leaving the room and before retiring. Ensure that your room door is closed & locked when departing the room. All rooms are equipped with a security door lock, some the button is turned to lock and others will lock automatically. Do not press this button with the automatic lock until you are retiring. All rooms are equipped with a door security bar.


The hotel annex entrance is closed every night by 10:30 pm. If you find yourself at the hotel entrance, please use the buzzer to the left side outer arch to have the night security buzz you in.


It is required that you leave your key at the front desk whenever you are leaving the hotel compound. This minimizes the risk of losing your key, thus ensuring maximum security of your room. Do not leave your key on the door or give it to any other person. In the event of a key is lost the lock replacement cost is US$50.00.


The hotel has in-room security boxes for you to secure your valuables. We recommend that you leave your jewelry, cameras, important documents, and any excess money in your box. . In the event that you are given the key and are being lost, the cost is US $75.00.


Door security bar is provided in all our rooms, for your safety we recommend you use them while in your room.


Please be advised that we strongly recommend that after 6:00 pm, you retrieve any of your personal items, from outside of your room. The hotel and management will not be responsible for any loss incurred.


In the best interest of your Safety and Security, visitors are not allowed in our guests’ rooms. We do not allow unregistered guests in our rooms.


Tourists are highly encouraged to remain within the safe corridor by visiting and using only those entities that are Gold Standard Certified and the certification is displayed and clearly visible. We ask guests to be aware of surrounding when venturing on the island.

Fire and Hurricane Safety

To stimulate our guests to develop good security habits, management suggest the following:


Take note of fire extinguisher systems, theses are located at intervals between guests rooms.

Know how to use the air conditioner, especially to turn off.



If you are certain there is a fire, immediately call the operator by dialing ‘0’.

Immediately leave the room and ensure you close the door behind you.

Keep yourself below smoke level.


If you are unable to leave your room, turn off all electrical supply.  Fill the sinks and bath with water.  Wet your bed sheets, seal the doors tightly, and cover all crevices which might let smoke in.  Keep yourself as low as possible to avoid smoke inhalation.  Place a wet cloth over your nose and mouth.



In the event of a hurricane and law requires it, you will be given instructions accordingly. Management will keep you informed. If imminent threat is to San Pedro, we relocate our guests to Belize City.

As per BTB Gold Standard Tour Operator Protocols the following has been implemented:   

  • Guest will be required to have their temperature taken before boarding the boat.
  • All Guests will need to have a mask and wear it until the boat is moving
  • Guests not wanting to wear a mask while in the boat moving will be asked to sit to the rear of the boat.
  • Sanitizers will be provided and guests will be required to sanitize their hands frequently.
  • All full day tours guests will have temperature be taken midday.
  • All guides will wear masks and sanitize regularly.

All boats and equipment will be washed and sanitized as per Gold Standard Policy.

Lamanai “submerged crocodile” Adventure

Enjoy a delightful continental breakfast as we make our way to the mainland by boat. Along the way the guides point out the rich variety of flora & fauna. Once on the mainland we board a private bus or van that takes us to Tower Hill. 

Upon arrival at Tower Hill we board another boat that takes us down the New River to Lamanai. As we make our way down the river we encounter birds, monkeys & crocodiles. At Lamanai we take a break for lunch, served under the canopy of the jungle; followed by a guided tour of the ruins that perch on the water’s edge.

Altun Ha Maya Ruin & Baboon Sanctuary

We begin by making our way to the mainland & up the Belize River. Along the way as we serve breakfast, keep an eye out to spot the crocodiles, iguanas and possibly manatees. Once at Manatee Lookout, you will have a few minutes to browse around and stretch your legs before boarding the private bus that will take us to Altun Ha. 

Once at the site our guide will give you an informative tour of the ruins. After you have worked up a healthy appetite exploring the ancient Maya site we head to a local restaurant for authentic Belizean Lunch. After lunch we head to Community Baboon Sanctuary, a grassroots conservation project that protects the natural habits of more than 2,000 wild black howler monkeys (locally called ‘baboons’).

You will see the screeching creatures hanging out in trees and crossing over special rope ladder bridges.

Jungle Zip Line and Cave Tubing Adventure

This wonderful day begins as we make our way towards the mainland and up the Old Belize River. Once in the River, we will serve a light breakfast while you encounter wildlife such as crocodiles, iguanas and howler monkeys. When we reach Manatee Lookout we board a private bus with a guide who takes you to Jaguar Paw.

At Jaguar Paw, you travel through the jungle to the Zip Line, where you climb to the first platform. From there you “Zip” through the dense tropical rainforest canopy in eight different stages. After about an hour and a half, you return to the resort lunch.

After lunch, your guide takes you along a 40 minute jungle trail up to the entrance to Xibalba caves. Then it is time to put on your head lamps, and inner tubes and splash into the cool water and be amazed as you glide through the amazing caves filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and crystals.  Caves were once the worship temples of the Mayas.

Hol Chan & Shark Ray Alley

Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley are approximately 4 miles south east of SunBreeze Hotel.  It is the single most popular day trip from San Pedro, perfect for snorkeling.  Hol Chan is Mayan for ‘little channel.” The entire reserve focuses on a cut through the reef (called a quebrada) which is little more than 25 yards wide and 30 feet deep.   Over 160 species of fish have been identified in the reserve, along with nearly 40 species of corals, 5 sponges, 8 algae’s, 2 sea grasses, 3 marine mammals and 3 species of sea turtle. Annexed to Hol Chan is Shark Ray Alley.   Nurse Sharks and Rays have a great tolerance for snorkelers and seem to enjoy the human interaction.

Robles Beach BBQ (speedboat)

Ambergris Caye is 27 miles long, and San Pedro is concentrated in only an 8-mile section. Roble is about 20 miles north of town. Your day to Robles begins as we make our way north along the coast of Ambergris Caye.  Your first stop is to snorkel at Mexico Rocks, with its coral formations and colorful small fish. After a second snorkel stop at Basil Jones, we head on to Robles, where we will stop on a pristine stretch of beach where the reef almost touches the island. Here you can snorkel the reef or explore the deserted beaches in both directions. While you are snorkeling or exploring the expanses of beach, our guide prepares a delicious Beach BBQ for you. Lunch includes BBQ chicken, roasted potatoes, pasta salad, and brownies. After lunch, you will have time to relax in a hammock under the shade of a coconut tree or go for another swim. Then it will be time for us to begin our return journey along the coast back to San Pedro

Manatee Watch and Snorkeling Adventure

We begin the day by making our way south along many of the Cayes that dot Belize’s coast.  Once at Swallow Caye, you will have an opportunity to view the West Indian Manatee in their natural habitat. Then we head to Goff’s Caye where you can snorkel off the Caye’s white beaches among reef coral and colorful fish.  Once you have worked up a healthy appetite exploring the reef or just soaking up the rays, you will enjoy a tasty Beach BBQ that will be prepared by your guide. After lunch, is on to snorkel with sharks & Rays and then a stop in Caye Caulker to browse.    Includes Beach BBQ, beer, sodas, rum punch, and snacks.

Belize Zoo

Belize Zoo is upon 29 acres of tropical savanna and exhibits over 150 animals, representing over 45 species, all native to Belize. The zoo keeps animals which were orphaned, rescued, born at the zoo, rehabilitated animals, or sent to The Belize Zoo as donations from other zoological institutions. Come and see animals indigenous to our country, such as Tapir, Keel Billed Toucan, Jaguar, Crocodile, Jabirus Stork, Scarlet Macaw, and much more in a nature habitat atmosphere.

Xunantunich Maya Ruin “Stone Woman”

Believed to have been built sometime during A.D. 150 – 900; the golden age of the Mayas.  Xunantunich contains three ceremonial plazas surrounded by house mounds. It was first opened in 1938 after centuries of neglect.  As the first Maya site to be opened in the country it has attracted the attention and exploration of many other archaeologists over the years.  Located across from San Jose Succotz Village; eight miles from the western border, this site can only be reached by a hand-cranked ferry across the Mopan River.

Caye Caulker Day Sail (catamaran)

This delightful day begins as you gently sail to Hol Chan Marine Reserve where we have the first snorkel stop.  After that spectacular snorkel, we head on to Shark Ray Alley where you will encounter sharks and rays in their natural habitat for another great snorkel stop. Once back on board, settle in for the sail to San Pedro’s neighboring village of Caye Caulker, where you will have Lunch in any of the quaint restaurants (lunch not included).  Having spent a couple hours having lunch and familiarizing with the area, we head back to San Pedro.

Bacalar Chico

Bacalar Chico on the coast of northern Ambergris Caye covers 130 km2 of the Belize Barrier Reef as well as Rocky and Robles Points – the only points where the barrier reef touches mainland Belize.   After visiting this pristine Reserve, Bacalar Chico, you continue on to snorkel stops at Barracuda Reef and Rocky Point Channel. Then we head on to Robles Point, where we will stop on a pristine stretch of beach where the reef almost touches the island. Here you can snorkel the reef or explore the deserted beaches in both directions. While you are snorkeling or exploring the expanses of beach, our guide prepares a delicious Beach BBQ for you. Lunch includes BBQ chicken, roasted potatoes, pasta salad and brownies.  To the Maya, Bacalar Chico was an important trading port and it is believed that some fifteen hundred years ago they dug a narrow channel separating Ambergris Caye from Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. The Bacalar Chico channel functions as the park’s northern boundary and narrowly separates Belize from Mexico.
